Directory Analysis: RealtySiteReview

RealtySiteReview Directory: http://www.realtysitereview.com/

This directory is specific to the real estate industry and is categorized by state.  They do not require a reciprocal link.

The URL was originally purchased in December of 2005.  The Internet WayBackMachine doesn’t show the site live until June 14, 2006.  At that time, the site stated, “1306 agent listings in 8 states “.  The WayBackMachine shows that the current version of the site with all 50 states went live at the end of October 2006.  As of November 16, 2007, the site states “over 1004 agent listings covering 50 states”.

The code on the site is a bit messy having the title tags in the body and table tags in the head.  There are also missing ‘<’ on some of the tags.

They claim to be the ‘fastest growing real estate directory on the web’ and as of November 16, there were 46 agents listed in their Massachusetts section.  I did a search on Google for ‘real estate directory’, ‘real estate agent directory’, ‘Massachusetts real estate’ and ‘Massachusetts realtors’ and the site did not show up within the first six pages of results.

I submitted a client site and was listed within one day.  Within a few weeks of getting included in the directory, I did a search for the client’s site on Google.  Their ‘printable’ page on realtysitereview.com did show up on the first page of results, however, this ‘printable’ page does not include a link back to the client, only a mention of the URL.  The page with my client’s URL did not show up in the results at all.

Useful SEO Tool: Google Page Rank Checker

Google Page Rank Checker by iWebtools.com

Iwebtools has developed numerous useful tools for SEO.  One that I find very useful checks the Google Page Rank of any web-page.  For the most part, the tool works well. I have found that on occasion it will show that it is working, however, it won’t show any results. I am not sure if this is due to a glitch or heavy traffic.  Even with this small inconvenience, I find the tool useful.

Iwebtools also allows you to use any of their tools directly on your website.  Here is the Google Page Rank checking tool imbedded here on this site.  If you prefer, you can see the tool directly at their site by click this… Link Exchange

JoeAnt Directory: http://www.joeant.com/

This is a multi-category directory that charges $39.99 per submission, however, if you are an editor, the submission to their directory is free.  You can become an editor at http://www.joeant.com/editor_application.html.  You must choose one topic to edit.  To submit your own site, you should make sure you choose the topic that best fits your website.

When submitting your description, make sure that you describe your website and not your services.   Inclusion in the directory is instantaneous once an experienced editor approves your listing.  This usually takes a few days.

This is a good directory as they do not require a reciprocal link.

Directory Analysis: R-TT Directory

R-TT Directory: http://directory.r-tt.com/

This is a multi-category directory that allows free submissions.  In order to get your site listed in this online directory, you have to have a reciprocal link back to their site.  This is the link that they asked me to include when I submitted to their directory - Data Recovery.  They also have a requirement that the linking site be indexed by Google.  They say that if your site is not indexed by Google, regardless of page rank, they will not accept your link submission.

I like that they set their reciprocal link to point to a different website, www.r-tt.com versus directory.r-tt.com.

Inclusion in the directory is instantaneous as long as you adhere by their requirements.  The submission to the directory is also permanent, meaning your listing will stay in their directory as long as your site exists.

When you submit your site, the directory will take your description and title directly from your meta and Title tags.  You can then modify this information and also include a list of keywords.  Your description must be less than 256 characters.

Page Rank of http://directory.r-tt.com as of November 13, 2007: page rank 3
Page Rank of http://directory.r-tt.com as of May 8, 2008: page rank 5

I Don’t Need a Title Tag

I won’t use my title tage because I don’t want my website to rank well on Google.  (Or any other search engine for that matter)  Therefore, I don’t need to worry about the title tag on any of my web pages.

I certainly won’t keep my title tag less than 90 characters!  Why should I?  I don’t want my website to get found!

I certainly won’t put important phrases in the Title tag.  I won’t customize my title tags on each page to reflect the content of that page.  If I do, I may get my site found by potential clients.  I don’t want that!

If I do decide to put anything in the Title tag, I’ll make sure it is something useless.  I’ll go to inventory.overture.com and I’ll check to see what phrases my potential clients are using on the engines and I won’t include the information!  I may even use the free trial (or pay the small fee) at http://www.wordtracker.com/ to get even more phrases that people use to search online…. and I won’t include those phrases either!

If I do decide to include a title tag, I think I’ll just put ‘home page’ in it.  That should keep people off my site.  Better yet…. I’ll just take all of my important keywords and put them in the title tag over and over…. keyword stuff my title tag.  Yeah…. then maybe Google will just ban me completely.  Something like this should get me banned…..

“Massachusetts real estate realtor in Massachusetts selling real estate in Massachusetts because I’m a realtor in Massachusetts realtor real estate realtor”

Aha!  That should do the trick!
